Our winery
Our winery is a true family-run business - all work is done by family members (with occasional but substantial assistance of friends and acquaintances). Its history, though relatively short, is quite dynamic and eventful:-)
It all started one fateful day in 1998 when I found a half-dilapidated cottage in picturesque Pavlov
which could serve as the basis for my fishing breaks. My brother Tomáš and I converted the cottage into its current inhabitable state. And while waiting for the fish to take in, I started to ponder how best to secure our big family. Eventually, I figured out that I could try making my own wine. I made my first two demijohns in 2000 at Radek Nepraš cellar, with Radek proving as a helpful and patient advisor in my beginnings. The most daring of my closest say that their content was impossible to swallow, but they failed to discourage me:-)

In few years' time, winemaking turned from hobby into a full-time job and indeed my means of earning living. Hand in hand with this transition, production capacity and technology used have expanded gradually. The latest addition so far is the new gate, shielding previously completed air-conditioned bottle storage room. In the near future, we would like to start expanding the current processing facility so as to obtain the room needed for the processing and production of the planned 40-50 thousand bottles a year.

Currently, we find ourselves in the transition phase to become bio-producers. This means that we are not using any chemical substances to fight against pests, diseases and bad weather friendly, but rather natural products such as fennel oil, baking powder or water glass, as well as admissible protective treatments on the basis of sulphur and copper. The transition phase closes this year and our 2010 wines will proudly carry "bio wine" labels.
Our philosophy includes granting our customers a substantial degree of freedom. Our labels do not prescribe what tastes and aromas they should be looking for in this or that bottle. We leave that entirely to the imagination of the connoisseurs of our wines.
